In Honors English, we read two books. After being admitted into the honors program, we began by reading George Orwell's 1984 and responded on a Google Document shared with everyone throughout the readings. Once everyone had completed the reading, we wrote an essay about the major themes, such as fear and manipulation. Throughout the course of English Honors, we also read The Complete Collected Poems of Maya Angelou by Maya Angelou, Siddhartha by John Hesse, and Hiroshima by John Hersey, along with challenging articles and small readings. We had weekly meetings on Thursdays during Read-On to discuss the work being completed.
