Semester 1
Public speaking is a skill many fear and lack proficiency in. In Christina Lee's Speak Up course in Semester 1, tips on how to adequately speak/present in public, research, and create presentations were introduced. Students were also informed on how to avoid creating a poor presentation and what skills need to be acquired to execute a proficient presentation that keeps the audience engaged. Two projects (an "Intro to Me" and a "Teach Us" project) were assigned and students were encouraged to use their voice in the community. To deepen this lesson, students researched topics that they were interested in and visited a homeless shelter located in Pawtucket.
