Semester 1
In Semester 1 of United States History, lessons were mainly focused on identity, membership, assumptions, and legacy. To further our knowledge of assumptions and labels, we had to endure the process of mapping the multi. This project included creating a scale map of the multipurpose room at Blackstone Academy Charter School and then labeling each table based on the people who sit at it during lunch. Michael Brown, colonies, the branches of government, British rule, the U.S. government, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights were all covered in this semester.

Semester 2
In Semester 2 of U.S. History a major component was sourcing as we learned how to distinguish reliable sources and how to evaluate sources. The Civil Rights Movement, activism, corroboration, Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers, 1968 Teachers’ Strike, and the Little Rock Nine are some of few concepts explored in Semester 2. Currently, we are working on our Upstander projects, outlining our service learning projects for next year.
